Prana Therapy — 2: Why Prana Therapy is so Effective?

Prana is the essence of life. All biological functions of embodied beings are operated by Prana energy. An intake of a large amount of this energy is necessary for enhancing efficiency of functions of body and mind. Besides being a necessity for curing one's own self from diseases, an enhanced level of Prana energy in the body is an absolute requirement for a practitioner of Prana therapy. There is an abundance of this element of Prana throughout the cosmos. Since we are living in an omnipresent cosmic ocean of Prana, it is not at all difficult to tap this energy. Like a fish, which naturally and effortlessly takes in water from a river for its requirement without any resistance, it is easy for any person to draw in and retain as much Prana as desired from its absolute reservoir (Maha Prana) in the cosmos.

For a long time, the masters of spiritual healing (which is another name for Prana therapy) are aware that besides the physical body (Sthool Sharir), living beings are endowed with a subtle body, known as Sookshma Sharir in parlance of Indian spirituality. Though unperceivable by human senses, this Sookshma Sharir too is an infinitesimally subtle entity having its own special characteristics. The potential of energy in the Sookshma Sharir is very much higher than that in the physical body. As a matter of fact, the physical body of man functions by the energy derived from the Sookshma Sharir itself. Aggravation of a disease is related to the state of health of Sookshma Sharir. Ordinarily, the ailments afflicting the physical body are temporary in nature. However, after penetrating deeper beneath the external physical body, the disease begins to pervade the Sookshma Sharir — the debility becomes torturous or incurable. The conventional systems of medicines today treat only the physical, biological body of the patient. Many diseases carried over by the Sookshma Sharir to successive births baffle the therapists and are often declared incurable.

However, all chronic ailments are not resultants of past cycles of life. Sometimes, such physical sufferings are also caused by abnormalities created in the field of Prana energy of the sufferer because of interference by the bio-electric charges acquired from fields of alien bodies. Possession by spirits and injection of venom by snakes and scorpions are responsible for such disturbances.

All animate beings (fauna and flora) have specific bioelectric fields which interact in the course of sensory contacts. Abnormalities in thinking process, intellect and obsessive attachments to the body produce ailments like epilepsy, neurological disorders, insanity, chronic despondency, mental retardedness, habitual-anger, anxiety, insomnia, indifference towards normal activities of life, confusion and uncivilized behavior. Strong mistaken beliefs too sometimes result in fatal diseases. The roots of such ailments penetrate the Sookshma Sharir. Prana therapy is a panacea for such disorders. Only the energy of Prana can be made to enter the Sookshma Sharir for removing such deep-rooted diseases.

Ordinary diseases of physical body are very easily curable by Prana therapy. Eradication of their roots also ensures safety from later emergence of the disease in some other form. However, treatment by Prana therapy can't be used for orthopedic treatments, for extraction of foreign objects from body, or for curing diseases for which surgery is absolutely necessary. Nevertheless, it can greatly speed up the healing process during or after such treatment.

It is Easy to Acquire Prana from Space

As mentioned above, the physiology of all animate beings enables them to acquire their natural requirement of Prana effortlessly. The abundance (prevalence) of all natural resources required for keeping alive in the world is proportional to their need for survival. The greater is the requirement for the natural element, the more is its availability in the world.

In comparison to air, Prana — the life-sustaining component of nature — is much more necessary for life of the animate beings. A living being may continue to live without air for some period (e.g. hibernate by storing Prana), but not a moment of life is possible without Prana. Hence nature has provided man with the effortless mechanism of breathing for acquiring Prana.

All physical and autonomic activities of living bodies are carried out by the energy of Prana. The energy spent in activities of life is being continuously replenished through the natural mechanism of breathing in Prana along with air. In course of casual breathing, only the minimum requirement of Prana for survival is fulfilled. For acquiring an additional quantum of this energy, man is required to carry out specific exercises of rhythmic breathing — known as Pranayam in parlance of Indian spirituality.

The significance of the simple procedure of Pranayam for acquiring additional Prana energy from its cosmic reservoir should not be underrated. Many people consider easy and simple exercises for health as ineffective and worthless. They hold the view that the importance and efficacy of an exercise lies in complicated procedures and elaborate instructions. It is a gross misconception. Acquiring Prana is the easiest yet most useful exercise for life.

Prana is an extraordinarily subtle element of nature. The element of Prana is infinitesimally finer (subtle) than water and air. Hence, human sensory organs are incapable of perceiving its mechanism of entrance and exit from the body through the numerous follicles in the skin. Like x-rays, which penetrate even solid substances, and transparent glass which does not obstruct the movement of light rays, flesh and bones do not hamper the flow of Prana through the body.

With firm determination and strong power of will, one can draw in and accumulate a large amount of Prana energy from the cosmos within oneself. This additional storage of Prana in the body provides immense capacity in whatever activity is undertaken by man.
