The Mystery of Missing People

This universe created by the Almighty is resplendent with very many secrets. Many happenings in Nature are sometimes so strange, secretive and wondrous that understanding them with normal common sense is almost impossible. Such incidents include vanishing of people — and sometimes things as big as huge ships and airplanes. Exhaustive investigation and search has not given us a satisfactory explanation.

Evan Parfit of England was struck by paralysis. In June 1763, one day his sister made him sit in the sun outside the house. She even covered him with a coat for protection from sun. At about 7 PM, when his sister returned, the chair was empty and the boy was not to be seen. His coat was lying in the chair but he himself had vanished. It is to be noted that Parfit could not walk because he was suffering from paralysis. Efforts to find the missing person went in vain.

In 1809, British politician Benjamin Bathart was going to attend a court hearing in Austria. He stopped at Pearlberg for his dinner. After eating, he continued his journey in a horse carriage. His other companions were seated in the rear seats. When the companions looked for Benjamin, he was not present in the front seat. He was not seen anywhere in the world by anyone. His vanishing remained a mystery that was never solved.

The incident that occurred in a farmhouse in Gallatin, Tennessee, was witnessed by many people. Two children George and Sarah were playing in their farmhouse. Their parents David and Emma were standing at the main entrance. David saw the Judge Peg getting out of the carriage and approaching. David waved his hand as a gesture of respect. Then suddenly, as Emma and Peg were watching, David vanished. The judge thought that there might have been a pit in the ground into which David must have fallen. But nothing was found anywhere.

On 1st December 1946, an 18-year-old girl by name Paul Walden vanished into thin air while there were people watching. She had gone sightseeing to the Glastonbury hills. A couple walking 100 yards behind her saw her in front of them turn around the hill, but by the time they reached the same point, they did not see the girl. There was never any news of that girl.

In 1915, an entire army battalion went missing. Three soldiers were witness to this incident. They recounted — they saw the Royal Norfolk Regiment of New Zealand march towards the mountains of Suvla Bay in Turkey. The mountain was surrounded by clouds but the British soldiers marched into the clouds without any hesitation. When the last soldier of the battalion entered the clouds, the clouds slowly rose up in the sky and got dispersed. When the war ended, the government of Britain gave a list of its captured soldiers to Turkey. That list contained all the names in that battalion. But the government of Turkey kept telling that they had never captured that battalion.

In another incident, an entire village of 2000 people in Canada vanished. Leben had gone to this village in North Canada to buy fruits. When he went there in November 1930, he found the entire village deserted. All the houses and shops in the village were empty. In spite of government investigation, there was nothing found about even a single person of the village.

In the very latest incident, Malaysian Airlines MH370 went missing on 8th March 2014. The aircraft contained a total of 239 passengers, including 5 Indians. That flight was going from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Even till date, nothing has been found about the whereabouts of this aircraft.

All these incidents refer to those secrets of Nature that science has not been able to solve in spite of all the latest technology. The reason being, though science is all-powerful, it is not everything. Also there are many things in this God-made universe that are not understood and can be elusive to human brain. Those who want to understand the secrets of nature should surrender themselves to the creator of this Nature. Then, Nature will herself reveal the secrets in its bosom to such seekers.
